Operational craft built on assembled pontoons
Eurodredging modular pontoons provide the structural base for the construction of complete operational vessels. The hull assembled with modular elements offers advantages of transportability, configuration flexibility and possibilities for adaptations over time. Each project includes specific stability calculations for the operating machinery and installed equipment.
Dredgers on modular hull
Assembled pontoons create platforms for suction or grab dredgers. The modular hull is configured to house pumps, piping, suction systems and excavation mechanisms. The L3M series with capacity up to 7 t/m² supports heavy machinery and high operating loads. Modularity allows different configurations according to the type of material to be dredged and operating conditions, with possibilities for subsequent modifications for new requirements.
Modular ferries
Assembled pontoons constitute the hull of ferries for passengers and vehicles. The example of the “Caronte” ferry, built for the Consorzio Est Ticino Villoresi, uses 12 L3M modular elements for an 80-meter crossing on the Villoresi canal. The battery-powered electric propulsion system with three-phase motors and chain translation ensures zero emissions and silent operation. Symmetrical hydraulic ramps at the ends facilitate loading and unloading of trucks and heavy vehicles.
Service vessels
The modular hull supports the construction of workboats for port operations, offshore facility maintenance, shipyard assistance and technical services in marine or river environments. The configuration is adapted according to required equipment, with preparations for cranes, winches, pumping systems and specialized equipment.
Special elements and stability calculations
Each vessel requires specialized elements in addition to standard modules:
- Hydrodynamic bows: to optimize navigation and reduce resistance
- Stern elements: prepared for housing propulsion units, rudders and steering apparatus
- Reinforced modules: for areas subject to concentrated stresses (crane installation, heavy machinery)
- Technical preparations: cable passages, piping, hydraulic and electrical systems
For each configuration, RINA-approved stability calculations are provided, determined according to installed operating machinery, expected loads and operating conditions. The calculations consider:
- Weight distribution empty and fully loaded
- Vessel center of gravity in different operating conditions
- Transverse and longitudinal stability
- Flotation reserve and freeboard
- Behavior in rough sea conditions or currents
The hull modularity allows subsequent modifications with stability recalculation, ensuring adaptability to new operational requirements.
